The Real Meaning of Women's Empowerment
Empowerment is one word we see everywhere - But what does it really mean for you and me?
POSTED BY: IVANA JOHN
We often see the phrase: 'Women's Empowerment' thrown around. On posters, all over social media, in ads, in speeches, it has become a trend. But for me, women's empowerment isn't just another online fad; it is real and very personal. It is something that matters.
It's really about having options, without feeling bad about your choice. It's about being able to decline without feeling guilty. It's about rejecting someone or an idea without feeling threatened or constantly anxious. It's about living life on your own terms - how you talk. where you go, what dreams you chase. It should all be up to me. I shouldn't have to be answerable to anyone.
Empowerment doesn't have to be loud and flashy; it can be very low-key. Like a girl wearing her favorite dress, not worried about others' judgment or a woman pursuing her career even when people tell her to choose housework over it. You don't have to have a mic or a million followers to be empowered. You can just be at home, scrolling on your phone, or be another student in class.
'You're worth more and you're allowed to want it. Don't settle for the bare minimum. Keep your head high and standards higher.' That's what an empowered woman means to me. Whether you're a student, dreamer, a learner, or just figuring everything out like me, you belong here.
